Glam Rock Wedding Featured in Offbeat Bride

Marshall_Lemieux_ElizabethBurgiPhotography_untitled1098_0_low.jpg

For those that know me, it's no surprise that I consider myself a "rocker chic". I own a collection of rock band belt buckles. Yeah, I'm that obsessed. If I could go back in time, I would be best friends with Robert Plant. That's why when one of our favorite wedding planners Trina Schmidt of Trina Schmidt Weddings asked us to design the florals for a Glam Rock couple, we screamed YES! As if doing a wedding that allowed us freedom of creativity wasn't enough, it's been featured in Offbeat Bride.

Lauren and Bryan love heavy metal and wanted to incorporate that love into their wedding celebration. They chose black, purple and silver as the basis for their design. We applaud Lauren for being a rock star and choosing a black sequin wedding gown from WToo by Watters. Her bridesmaids all wore shades of lavender and purple. To keep it fresh and hip Bryan ad his groomsmen wore black and white Adidas and guitar picks for boutonnieres. Be still our rocker hearts.

Knowing all the little details that Trina had planned with the couple such as invitations that looked like concert tickets, and table designations of album covers from their favorite bands we knew the direction we had to go in. When designing for a wedding that's outside of the box, we always keep in mind that it should still feel elegant. We used metal stands brimming with flowers full of texture and color that aren't your standard wedding flowers. Our choice was roses, stock, sweet peas, scabiosa, tulips and cosmos, just to name a few. We love that the couple chose to become one under a canopy of black sheer fabric. We used only a touch and added a floral cascade to keep it soft and romantic. For reception we chose silver and gunmetal linens with lush floral in a high and low style for a dramatic effect. Overall the look was bold yet luxurious to the delight of our couple and their guests.

Featured The Knot - Calamigos RanchWedding

This wedding has become one of our favorites from last year for so many reasons. First of all because of our dearest couple Ashley and Jonathan who were so much furn to work with. Second we love working at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. Each time is a treat and this one was a bit more special because we got to transform the ceremony space. And last but not least working with planner Carol Grogan of Bright Blue Events makes our day! All of this together with the stunning imagery of Gloria Mesa Photography made this wedding a shoe in for a feature on The Knot! We're so proud that our work is showcased and happy for everyone involved. Check out the full feature and see more images here.

Bachelor House Wedding - Modern Love

lotus_and_lily_floral_design_bachelor_house_wedding

Being a floral designer in Southern California offers us many opportunities to work at unique venues. Recently such an opportunity presented itself at The Bachelorette House in Malibu. This house is famous for it's presence on the wildly popular television show The Bachelorette. Our dear friend, colleague, and wedding planner, Tessa Lyn of Tessa Lyn Events asked us to design the florals for this beautiful wedding. The house itself is modern and contemporary, with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop. With the couple's color scheme of white and ivory in mind, we created a sleek and modern ceremony design to match the property. We're happy to share some of the photos of our designs. The focus for the ceremony was clean modern lines, allowing the ocean to be the star the show. We achieved it through the use of White Calla Lilies, Ivory Roses, and White Orchids, in a pave' style, place in interesting angles in glass vessels. The arrangements themselves sat atop mirrored columns in varying heights. For a romantic feel, petals defined the aisle in a clean and compact style. We hope you enjoy the images by Viera Photographics as much as we do. It was a magical day. As far as the eye could see, was blue sky and blue water. Our white palate was a stunning contrast.

An Enchanted Garden

Earlier this summer, we had the joy of creating an enchanted garden for Ashley and Jonathan. The couple's wedding planner Carol Grogan of Bright Blue Events brought us together with this wonderful couple. We were excited from the first meeting. Although we work at Calamigos Ranch often, it was the design that we couldn't wait to sink our teeth into. The property is a lush oasis that feels like a private enclave. However the ceremony area is a complete blank space that needed to match the rest of the property. We can't thank Gloria Mesa Photography enough for capturing the beauty of the design we gave our hearts and souls to.

We constructed a wooden arbor and attached thousands of stems of fern and hanging amaranthus, to create a walkway that felt like an overgrown forest pathway. An added touch of flair came from hanging glass bulbs filled with white blossoms. For the altar backdrop, we used an antique patina cabinet and created an archway bathed in million star babies breath. Yes that's right, babies breath is making quite a comeback. We've used it several times this year. On this arch, it's quite possible we bought out the entire flower mart!

The reception decor included lace linens, glass cloches with vibrant blossoms underneath, that were reminiscent of a whimsical botanic garden. The dining tables were draped in gorgeous textured linens, and the chairs were a mix match of antique wood styles. Our centerpieces complimented the unique feeling of elegance meets sass! We used metal candelabras dripping in roses and wildflowers in colors of white, ivory, blush, and lavender. The florals felt like they were picked from lush garden.

Carol put together a great team that gave their all to this wonderful couple. If you're planning a wedding, you should consider these fine professionals:

A Luxurious Home Wedding

We've all heard the saying, there's no place like home. It's especially true for a wedding. Celebrating your union in the same place where you grew up, can make the experience more meaningful than securing an event venue. Your home is filled with memories that shaped the person you are now. Why wouldn't you want to make an new memory that will be so meaningful to you and your family?

Lena and Bassam wanted that experience, and turned to event planner Jen Bergmark of First PIck Planning. She is an expert in the complexities that a home wedding requires. Not only was this a home wedding, but it was a Persian wedding, in which culture needed to be honored. The Persian wedding altar is called The Sofreh Aghd. Many items are placed on the altar that bring luck and longevity to the marriage. We had the distinct honor of embellishing the Sofreh with flowers. Not many floral designers are allowed this honor, and it made working on this wedding event more special for our team. A design of petals down the aisle leading to the Sorfeh made for a dramatic entrance for the bride.

A highlight of the reception was Lena and Bassam's stunning sweetheart table. Elegance was a must for this couple. This was achieved through the use of candelabras, mixed metal and glass containers, and an abundance of candles to accent the beauty of the home. The color scheme was pink and cream, with gold and silver metals for a romantic touch. Just look at the look on the couple's faces. It proves there's not place like home.....for a wedding. Congratulations Lena and Bassam. We wish you all the best in your life together.

Terranea Resort Wedding

lotus_and_lily_floral_Design_Terranea

High on a bluff in Palos Verdes with the beautiful Pacific Ocean in the distance, sits the stunning ceremony site at Terranea Resort. Wedding planner Carol Grogan of Bright Blue Events and our couple Layla and Robert wanted a luxurious design, that would reflect a contemporary sophisticated aesthetic. The ceremony space has it's own natural beauty, so we kept the ceremony design simple and classic. In addition to adorning the existing lattice structure with and abundance of flowers, and the grooms Talit , we draped it with billowy white fabric that blew gracefully in the breeze. After all the couple are the star of the show.

In the ballroom we utilized tables in a mix of round and long. The long tables had mirrored glass tops, and we used a combination of tall and low arrangements. Some were in glass containers and others in mirrored containers. The arrangements were fresh and lush with hydrangeas, roses and orchids in white, cream and champagne. A pop of hot pink livened up the entire design. It's always a pleasure to work with Bright Blue Events and the staff at Terranea. Every time we look at these images, we're reminded of what a perfect day this was.

Santa Barbara Private Home Wedding

Santa_Barbara_Home_Wedding

We love working with creative partners. For this Santa Barbara wedding we were thrilled to collaborate with event planner Percy Sales of Percy Sales Events. The wedding was held at a private estate. Our design aesthetic was to create a rustic natural look using wood elements, greenery, herbs and minimal florals. This was achieved using eucalyptus, driftwood, thistle and various succulents. Keeping with the elements found in nature, table markers were named from elements of the earth.

The vendor team that made this event a success included:

Montage Laguna Beach - Rob and Malcolm

The wedding or Rob and Malcolm was special to The Lotus and Lily Team because Malcolm is part of the Lotus and Lily family. We were so proud to be part of this beautiful celebration of love. The Montage Laguna Beach was the backdrop for this wedding by the sea. The ceremony decor was a pristine white theme that was a was a strong statement and focus on the ceremony itself. The reception was a glittering party of white and blue. There was no shortage of drama, as we used plenty of bling and glamour to make it spectacular.

The Ebell of LA Wedding of Naomi & Andre

ebelloflawedding

The Ebell of Los Angeles was the perfect setting for this fairytale wedding!

Words cannot describe the feeling of giddy I get when wedding coordinator extraordinaire, Deanna Tat of Chic Ambiance Events, asks me to collaborate on the design for an event. I’m not going to ramble on about all the countless hours and attention to detail that we happily gave for Naomi and Andre’s magical day. I will let the photos speak for themselves, but I will say that I had to move heaven and earth to get my hands on the hundreds and hundreds of stems of phaleonopsis orchids that Naomi had her heart set on. Kim Fox Photography captured every detail with precision and perfection! An added bonus was their beautiful baby daughter, who was pulled down the aisle in an adorable wagon overflowing with flowers and ribbons!
